Course Overview
This session provides practical awareness of adult CPR and the safe use of an AED. Learners are guided through recognising cardiac arrest, calling for emergency assistance, performing effective chest compressions and following the prompts of an AED.
The session is suitable for workplaces, community groups, sports clubs, voluntary organisations and members of the public. No previous first aid knowledge or experience is required.
Course Aim
The aim of this session is to give participants the knowledge, practical experience and confidence to recognise cardiac arrest, call for help, begin CPR and use an AED while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn how to:
- Recognise an unresponsive casualty
- Check for normal breathing
- Recognise cardiac arrest
- Call 999 and summon appropriate help
- Perform effective adult CPR
- Understand why early CPR is so important
- Recognise an AED and understand what it does
- Use an AED safely by following its prompts
- Continue CPR effectively while an AED is being prepared and used
Who Should Attend?
This session is suitable for anyone who wants the confidence to respond to a cardiac arrest, including members of the public, employees, volunteers, sports clubs, community groups and other organisations.
No previous first aid knowledge or experience is required.

The session is practical and participation-focused, providing plenty of opportunity to practise CPR and become familiar with using an AED.
Certification
Participants who complete the session will receive a P3 First Aid Training Certificate of Attendance confirming participation in CPR & AED Awareness training.

Availability
CPR & AED Awareness sessions can be delivered for workplaces, community organisations, sports clubs, voluntary groups and other organisations at a suitable venue. Sessions can also be adapted to reflect the needs of a particular group. Please contact P3 First Aid Training to discuss numbers, venue and delivery requirements.
Suggested Progression
Participants wishing to develop their first aid skills further can progress to Basic Life Support (BLS) & AED training or Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW). Regular opportunities to practise CPR and AED skills are also encouraged to help maintain confidence.

Yes. P3 First Aid Training can deliver CPR & AED Awareness sessions for workplaces, sports clubs, community organisations, voluntary groups and other organisations at suitable venues.
Is this a first aid qualification?
No. CPR & AED Awareness is a practical awareness session and is not a regulated or accredited first aid qualification. Participants who complete the session receive a P3 First Aid Training Certificate of Attendance.
