Course Overview
CPR & AED for Groups provides practical training for organisations wanting to develop lifesaving skills across a team, membership or community. Participants learn how to recognise cardiac arrest, call for emergency assistance, perform effective adult CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Sessions can be delivered for workplaces, sports clubs, community groups, voluntary organisations and other groups, with delivery adapted where appropriate to reflect the setting and the people attending.
Course Aim
The aim of this session is to give groups the practical skills and collective confidence to respond effectively to a cardiac arrest, including summoning emergency assistance, starting CPR quickly and using an AED safely while awaiting the emergency services.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will learn how to:
- Recognise an unresponsive casualty
- Check for normal breathing
- Recognise cardiac arrest
- Call 999 and summon appropriate help
- Perform effective adult CPR
- Understand why early CPR is so important
- Recognise an AED and understand what it does
- Use an AED safely by following its prompts
- Continue CPR effectively while an AED is being prepared and used
Who Should Attend?
This training is designed for organised groups wishing to develop CPR and AED confidence across their team or membership. It is suitable for workplaces, sports clubs, community organisations, voluntary groups and other organisations.
No previous first aid knowledge or experience is required.
Duration
2 Hours
The standard session is approximately 2 hours and is delivered with a strong practical focus. Delivery can be adapted to suit the size and requirements of the group while maintaining the core CPR and AED learning outcomes.
Certification
Participants who complete the session will receive a P3 First Aid Training Certificate of Attendance confirming participation in CPR & AED for Groups training.

CPR & AED for Groups can be delivered at your workplace, club, community venue or other suitable location. Sessions can be arranged for businesses, sports clubs, community organisations, voluntary groups and other organisations, with delivery tailored where appropriate to the needs of the group.

Suggested Progression
Groups wishing to develop their first aid capability further can progress to Basic Life Support (BLS) & AED training or workplace first aid courses such as Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW). Regular opportunities to practise CPR and AED skills are encouraged to help maintain confidence.
